The Golden Murder

Murder #0311 takes you on an epic run through the serenity now forest of Golden Gate Park. Filled with inspiration, glory, and wonder.

Depending on the distance you choose, you might stroll hippie hill, smell the roses, sip on the tea garden, eat up strawberry hill, bathe in Hellman Hollows, remember the Portals of the Past, ride the horses along Polo Field, and more.

And most importantly locate all the suspects in the fictional crime and solve the mystery!

Race Flow

01 At the start of the race you are given a map

In addition to the map you are also given a Score Card and Trivia Worksheet.

02 Run to all zone markers and find each suspect

At each Zone is a sign, which will provide you with suspects and clues to the crime.

03 Gather all suspect clues and solve the crime

Using logic, skill, and deduction to solve the crime with our worksheet provided.

Objective

To be the first runner/team in your 'heat' to run to all zones and correctly solve the crime.

If no one solves the crime:

The winner would be based on who ever came the closest to solving the crime with the fastest run time.

For continuous growth and play. We award all participants with points and badges they can earn. The amount of points/badges earned is based on output.

ATHEON RUSH

For those who seek an adrenaline rush

The ATHEON RUSH is for those who seek an adrenaline rush. The mystery is not as difficult, but you will need to be quick on your feet and mind to win. A great starter race or those with less available time.

Race Distance: 3k (1.5 – 2.5 miles)*

Suspects in Crime: 6 Suspects

Start Time: 9:30 am (check-in begins at 9 am)

Duration: 30 – 1 hour 30 min*

ATHEON DASH

For those who seek a fun challenge

The perfect balance between a great run and a fun challenge. You or your team will need some stamina and speed to navigate your way through the challenge and solve the mystery. This is the most popular challenge because of its balance.

Race Distance: 5k (3 – 5 miles)*

Suspects in Crime: 3 Suspects, 3 Weapons, 3 Locations

Start Time: 8:30 am (check-in begins at 8 am)

Duration: 50 – 1 hour 50 min*

ATHEON QUEST

For those who seek an epic challenge

The ATHEON QUEST is for those who seek an epic challenge. You or your team will need great stamina to conquer the distance and navigate your way through the challenge and solve the mystery. Not easy, but boy is it extremely rewarding.

Race Distance: 10k (6 – 10 miles)*

Suspects in Crime: 3 Suspects, 3 Weapons, 3 Locations

Start Time: 7:30 am (check-in begins at 7 am)

Duration: 1.5 – 3 hours*

ATHEON WALK

For those who seek a lil fun

The ATHEON WALK is for those who seek a casual adventure and just want to have fun playing the game. With many choosing to walk or jog and complete the trivia questions at their own pace. Great for larger groups.

Race Distance: 3k (1.5 – 2.5 miles)*

Suspects in Crime: 6 Suspects

Start Time: 9:30 am (check-in begins at 9 am)

Duration: 50 min – 1 hour 50 min*

*Why distance spread rather than exact?

Because this is an orienteering route running race you easily can end up running more depending how good your or your team is at navigating the map route and locating each of the suspects or clues in the murder mystery. Thus the exact distance you run will be up to you or your team.

Note: Almost every player who has participated in this race has said that time and distance was irrelevant as they are so distracted having fun navigating and solving the mystery that they don’t even realize they are running a potentially long distance.

Tip: Strategy is valuable. There are many layers to this race that allow for a multitude of different types of strategies. Making it all that much more fun and the desire to come back for more.
